Universal Motion Simulation (UMS) is the developer of the innovative RDS (Reconfigurable Driver Simulator), a rapidly reconfigurable high fidelity full-motion training simulator that prepares AFV drivers to operate effectively in the most challenging environments up to the limits of vehicle performance.
UMS was established in 2017 to commercialise technology developed by Deakin University, Australia in collaboration with the Australian Army. UMS has delivered RDS for the Boxer Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle, M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams Main Battle Tank and the M1150 Assault Breacher Vehicle and is developing solutions for the M88A2 Hercules Armoured Recovery Vehicle and the AS21 Redback Infantry Fighting Vehicle.
The Reconfigurable Driver Simulator (RDS) is a new generation driver training simulator with a robust, flexible, and modular architecture providing a future-proofed training system. It is a fully immersive environment that very closely replicates the actual vehicle driving experience in benign and challenging environments across the full operating envelope, including at the limits of vehicle performance.

• Haptically enabled high-fidelity vehicle controls and instrument panels and hardware replicating the form, fit and function of the actual vehicle
• Optimal motion control algorithms producing high correlation between the real and simulated vehicle reducing the requirement for live training, the potential for negative training outcomes, the incidence of simulator sickness to a negligible level and resulting in a very high level of user acceptance
• The Reconfigurable Driver Simulator is designed and manufactured to order and delivery will be less than 12 months depending on customisation requirements
